About this site

How it works

Clifton Roof doesn't employ roofers or run crews. A call to the number on this site connects you with an independent roofing contractor that serves your address. That contractor looks at the roof, prices the job and, if you hire them, does the work.

What this site is

Clifton Roof is a referral service for homeowners in Clifton and neighboring towns with a roof to repair, a roof to replace or a new roof to build. The guides explain the roof types, the New Jersey rules and what goes into the price, so you can talk to a contractor knowing what to ask.

When you call, you are connected with an independent roofing contractor that serves your area. That company is a separate business. It inspects the roof, gives you its own price and, if you hire it, does the work and stands behind it.

The office at 845 Bloomfield Ave, Ste 205, Clifton is not open to walk-ins.

How it works

From one call to a sound roof

  1. Call

Say where the house is, what kind of roof it has and what you have noticed. You are connected with an independent roofing contractor that serves that address.

  2. Inspection

The contractor looks at the roof and, where they can, the attic and deck, then gives you a written scope and price.

  3. Contract

If you go ahead, you get a written contract. In New Jersey you can cancel it before midnight of the third business day after you receive your copy.

  4. The work

The repair or the new roof is done to the written scope, and the final payment waits until the work is finished.

How the site is paid

You pay this site nothing. Contractors, or the referral network they belong to, may pay it for the calls it sends them. The contractor sets its own prices, and you are never obliged to hire them.

This site does not help with insurance claims and does not refer claim work. The details are in the referral disclosure.

Before you hire anyone

Five checks worth ten minutes

  • Look up the company's home improvement registration under Business Search in the state's license verification system.
  • Ask for a copy of its liability insurance policy and the insurer's phone number.
  • Get the full scope and price in a written contract, including how rotten wood is charged.
  • Ask whether your job needs a permit, and who will file for it if it does.
  • Remember the three business days to cancel after you receive your copy of the contract.
